PUNE: Chennai Super Kings may have been dented after all their remaining home games were shifted out of Chennai. But that clearly has not deterred their spirit. After securing Pune as their new ‘home’ in IPL 2018, CSK decided to pleasantly surprise their loyal army of supporters from across the world on Thursday morning.
The Chennai Central station saw a crazy rush of CSK fans, who were more than 1,000 in number. A special train was organized by the franchise called ‘Whistlepodu Express’ that took the fans to Pune for the match against Rajasthan Royals on Friday night.
This goodwill initiative will also include fans being provided with complimentary passes for Friday’s contest, in addition to free food and accommodation in Pune.
“This is an unprecedented move by the CSK to reward its fans who have been a constant source of support. The fans have always been behind the team through thick and thin. I am sure the fans’ prayers and the talent CSK possesses will help them regain the coveted trophy,” said Saravanan, one of the fans of the team.
Chennai Super Kings returned to the IPL 2018 after an absence of two years. While they managed to pull off a thrilling win in their match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, it wasn’t without the impact of the Cauvery protests being felt on the ground to some extent. As a result, CSK was forced to shift their ‘home’ from Chennai to Pune for the remainder of the season.
