DD Sports to telecast key FIFA World Cup matches

NATIONAL BROADCASTER DOORDARSHAN, after earlier declaring it would not be telecasting the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026, announced Wednesday that it will be showcasing select matches of the mega tournament on DD Sports.

DD Sports will be telecasting the opening match between Mexico and South Africa on Wednesday, June 11 (12:30 am IST on June 12).

After this, the quarterfinals, semi-finals and final will be available on DD Free Dish. The quarters are set to be played across July 9, 10 and 11.

The semis will take place on 14 and 15 July and the final will take place on July 19.

The 23rd edition of the men’s FIFA World Cup will be the largest in the tournament’s history. For the first time, 48 teams will compete for football’s most coveted prize, with a record 104 matches scheduled across 16 host cities spread across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
