SPRINT LEGEND and Puma athlete Usain Bolt will trade his running spikes for football boots as he is set to take centre stage for a unique exhibition match in Mumbai on October 1.
Bolt, one of the greatest athletes of all time with eight Olympic gold medals to his credit, will light up the pitch in an exclusive football showcase alongside footballers, Bollywood personalities and other prominent figures.
The sportainment spectacle, organised by Puma, will mark the finale for Bolt’s first-ever two-city tour of India, which is being curated by DreamSetGo, Dream Sports’ platform for bespoke sports experiences and travel, under its “Dream Icons” initiative.
Dream Icons, which was launched in July, is DreamSetGo’s signature IP that brings the world’s greatest sporting legends face-to-face with Indian fans through bespoke, immersive experiences.
Exclusively curated by DreamSetGo, Bolt’s two-city tour across Mumbai and Delhi, which runs from September 26th to 28th, will feature a series of high-profile engagements, including intimate fan experiences and cultural interactions. He will be the first guest of Dream Icons, with more global icons to follow in the coming months.
One of the centre-pieces of the tour will be Dream Dash, a nationwide sprint challenge for school students culminating in a final showdown in front of Bolt.
Bolt shared his excitement ahead of the visit, saying, “I’m excited to return to India. The energy, the people and the passion for sports here is truly unmatched. I have a lot of fans in India and am really looking forward to my visit there later this year.”
Coming back to Puma’s exhibition match with its superstar athlete, Bolt will represent both Bengaluru FC and Mumbai City FC, playing one half each bringing fans from both camps together in Puma’s two-day celebration, which kicks off September 30.
This exhibition match will be a ticketed event.
“We believe sport has the power to inspire and unite communities. Football is one of the most popular sports among the youth of India, and bringing Usain Bolt to play here is our way of celebrating that momentum,” Puma India MD Karthik Balagopalan is quoted as having stated in a press release.
