DreamSetGo launches ‘Dream Icons’; 1st ‘guest’ is Usain Bolt

In a groundbreaking move for India’s sports and fan culture, bespoke sports experiences and travel platform DreamSetGo Tuesday announced the launch of Dream Icons.

As part of this initiative, DreamSetGo will host Usain Bolt, eight-time Olympic gold medallist and the fastest man in history, on his first-ever two-city tour to India this September.

The visit will also mark the launch of Dream Icons, DreamSetGo’s signature IP that brings the world’s greatest sporting legends face-to-face with Indian fans through bespoke, immersive experiences.

Just how big a deal this is can be gauged from the costs associated with bringing a sports superstar like Bolt to India. According to AAE Speakers Bureau. Gotham Artists quotes up to $750,000 for in-person speaking engagements with Bolt. Since what DreamSetGo has planned is a far more immersive engagement, a price north of $1 million (Rs 8.6 crore) all told is not too outrageous a possibility.

Bolt in India: A cultural and sporting moment
Exclusively curated by DreamSetGo, Bolt’s two-city tour across Mumbai and Delhi will feature a series of high-profile engagements, including intimate fan experiences and cultural interactions. He will be the first guest of Dream Icons, with more global icons to follow in the coming months.

One of the centre-pieces of the tour will be Dream Dash, a nationwide sprint challenge for school students culminating in a final showdown in front of Usain Bolt. This first-of-its-kind event will inspire young athletes by giving them the opportunity to run in the presence of the fastest man on the planet.

DreamSetGo co-founder Daniel Dsouza commented: “Bringing Usain Bolt to India is a defining moment, not just for DreamSetGo, but for India’s growing position in the global sports economy. It reflects our commitment to building extraordinary, access-led experiences that go beyond spectatorship. With Bolt’s visit launching Dream Icons, we’re bridging aspiration with access, celebrating greatness, inspiring the next generation, and reinforcing India’s readiness to host the world. This is not just a tour; it’s a signal that India is ready to be centre stage in the world of sport.”

“Lightning Bolt” shared his excitement ahead of the visit, saying, “I’m excited to return to India. The energy, the people and the passion for sports here is truly unmatched. I have a lot of fans in India and am really looking forward to my visit there later this year.”

India’s sports tourism on a global trajectory
India’s sports tourism market, valued at $10.87 billion in 2023, is projected to grow to $68.7bn by 2035.

In just the first half of 2024, over 15 million Indians travelled abroad, many planning holidays around major global sporting events.

A recent study shows 71% of Indian travellers are willing to travel overseas for sports, reflecting a growing shift toward experience-first travel.

With India preparing for its 2036 Olympic bid, hosting icons like Bolt, whose legacy was forged on the Olympic track, is more than just a fan moment. It’s a powerful symbol of India’s growing stature on the global sporting stage, and a source of inspiration for a new generation of athletes chasing their own Olympic dreams.
