NEW DELHI: Sports-tech start-up MyySports announced Thursday that sports sector investor Mathew Cyriac had infused $2 million into the company.
Cyriac, founder of investment company Florintree Advisors, is already on the board of MyySports and now joins the company as a director and co-founder.
Founded by Saurav Banerjee in 2021, MyySports, through its App, provides creator tools that allows sports lovers to create, socialise and monetise their content. The App is sports and geography agnostic.
MyySports has recently acquired a gaming company MyyHashstash.
Commenting on the investment, Cyriac said, “MyySports enables capturing and socialising the sporting journey of every sports enthusiast. With its unique offering, MyySports is all set to capture the large sports community on its digital platform. I am pleased to partner with Saurav on this exciting journey.”
Banerjee opined, “I am extremely happy to have Mathew as a co-founder. He is a prolific investor with an unbeatable track record and has over five investments in the sports sector. MyySports will gain immensely from his vast experience. A warm welcome on behalf of the entire MyySports team.”
For the record, Florintree has made over 30 investments over the past five years. MTAR Technologies and Data Patterns, two of the Florintree portfolio companies, have completed successful IPOs. Florintree also has fully exited three of its investments – Cashe , Pharmeasy and Wealthdesk (sale to PhonePe).
Cyriac currently has several investments in the Sports sector – Procam International (marathons and participative sports) Super Six Sports (fantasy sports gaming under brand Fantasy Akhada), SFA Sporting Services (sports tech) and Plaeup Pvt Ltd (D2C sports footwear for schoolchildren).
Cyriac has previously served as senior managing director & co-head of Private Equity in India at The Blackstone Group.
