RANCHI: Former chief minister and senior BJP leader Arjun Munda was on Tuesday elected as president of the Jharkhand Archery Association, IANS reports.
He was elected unanimously at an association meeting in Jamshedpur, replacing Sunil Bhaskaran.
Munda’s election took place only two days after he was nominated as a member in Rajnath Singh-headed manifesto preparing committee by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah. He had set up the Archery Academy in the Seraikela-Kharswa district in 2004. Indian archer and 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medallist Deepika Kumari is a product of the academy.
“Not only in Jharkhand but all tribal youth have talent to become an archer. There is need to promote them. I will work to promote archery in Jharkhand,” Munda was quoted as saying to IANS.
