LONDON: Formula 1 fans will get an opportunity for the first time in history to watch the pre-season testing of their favourite teams wherein they put their new cars through their paces for the first time and a new pecking order is established.
The first winter test will be held in Barcelona as all the action will be shown live on F1 TV Pro from 18-21 February. Subscribers will be able to watch eight hours of live track coverage followed a one-hour Review Show daily. The Review Show then returns for Test 2, which runs from 26 February to 1 March.
Formula1.com and the Official F1 App will also feature extensive coverage from testing, including news, video and exclusive features.
“Following the beta launch of F1 TV last year, our goal is to continue to enhance the product to include more markets, content and platforms,” Formula 1 head of Digital, Licensing and New Business Frank Arthofer said.
“Our ambition is to provide fans with a terrific product that allows them to personalise their viewing experience and deepen the insight available to them about the sport they love. By broadcasting testing for the first time, we are ensuring F1 TV Pro subscribers are rewarded with all the latest action from pre-season.”
Launched at the beginning of the 2018 season, F1 TV Pro was made available across 59 territories worldwide. In addition, this season F1 will also be rolling out F1 TV to subscribers in eight new territories from 18 February, including Cyprus, Denmark, Greece, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal and Sweden, with more to be shared throughout the season.
The platform also declared the new feature-length documentary “Michael Schumacher: The Making of A Legend” available for viewing on the platform. This is the first ever documentary produced by Formula 1 and made available exclusively to all F1 TV subscribers – Pro and Access.
