Digital sports platform FanCode has obtained exclusive TV and digital rights for the upcoming women’s tri-nation ODI series featuring India, Sri Lanka and South Africa.
The series, which will be played at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, will begin on April 27, with India facing Sri Lanka in the opening game. The final will be contested on May 11. Every team is going to square off twice, with the top two teams competing in the final.
India will try to maintain its outstanding run of form, having just lost once in Sri Lanka. They have never lost a series but will face stiff competition from Women’s ODI World Cup semi-finalists South Africa and a Sri Lankan squad that recently defeated India in the Asia Cup.
Sri Lanka, the Asia Cup champions, see this competition as a great preparation for the upcoming ICC Women’s World Cup, which will be hosted in India in September-October.
SLC CEO Ashley De Silva said: “We welcome FanCode as the official broadcaster of the upcoming Women’s Tri-Nation Series for fans. This tournament is a vital opportunity for all participating teams as they prepare for major upcoming challenges, such as the ICC Women’s 50-Over World Cup. It also serves as a significant platform to further promote and uplift women’s cricket in the region.”
FanCode co-founder Prasana Krishnan, noted: “We’re excited to partner with Sri Lanka Cricket for the upcoming Women’s Tri-Nation Series featuring top teams in India, South Africa, and hosts Sri Lanka. The presence of stars like Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Chamari Athapaththu, Laura Wolvaardt, amongst others promises high-quality action.
