Gaming industry forms self regulatory body ‘The Rummy Federation’

NEW DELHI: The country’s online gaming industry has formed a self regulatory body – The Rummy Federation (TRF) – which aims to utilise the individual learnings of various companies and adopt state-of-the-art practices from Western countries, where the industry is regulated.

The BusinessLine quotes Infotech India CEO Deepak Gullapalli as saying, “We are excited to be part of The Rummy Federation, which is being launched with the specific purpose of self-regulating the online rummy industry. We will instil high standards on software integrity, responsible gaming and advertising, for the industry at large. This will help bring greater credibility and transparency to our industry.”

Among the prominent players in the industry are RummyCircle, Ace2Three and Junglee Rummy he mobile and online games industry in India, currently pegged at Rs 9-12 billion, is growing at 60-70 per cent. While rummy, offered by most online game operators, has been adjudged a game of skill and is allowed to be played for stakes by the Supreme Court, poker and Fantasy Cricket are two other games that are being offered under the skill gaming banner in India.
