Ganguly in line to take over ACC presidentship

MUMBAI: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly is in line to become the next president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), when the term of the incumbent, Bangladesh Cricket Board chief Nazmul Hasan Papon, ends later this year. 

Aside from discussing the venue for this year’s the Asia Cup, the top job of Asian cricket’s governing body was the another matter that was on the agenda for the ACC’s annual general meeting that was to be held in Dubai on Tuesday. As already reported, the ACC meeting was was cancelled at the last minute due to the rising coronavirus scare in the Middle East. 

“The tenure of Nazmul Hasan ‘Papom’, the (ACC) president from Bangladesh, would be ending this year and as per the rotational policy of selection of their president, it’s India’s turn. Ganguly, on merit of being the current head of BCCI, is the obvious choice to take over the post,” informed sources told Gulf News.

The ACC headquarters, housed inside the global academy of the International Cricket Council (ICC), has 43 member countries.
