Global Poker League S1 on Colors; Nawazuddin to endorse PokerStars

MUMBAI: PokerStars India Friday announced that its flagship property, the Global Poker League (GPL) will be airing on Viacom18’s Colors Infinity channels starting 9 March. Colors will broadcast two episodes every Saturday from 7-8 pm IST over a five-week period with the final on April 6.

GPL India was filmed over a four-month period and documents the thrills and spills of the league, which saw over 7,500 amateur poker players attempt to qualify for 12 available spots across six city-tied teams (Chennai, Delhi, Pune, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Kolkata).

Together with India’s poker elite, winning qualifiers then competed across four weeks and six unique games for the chance to win the GPL India Season 1 crown and five passes to the prestigious 2019 PokerStars Players Championship in the Bahamas, for a grand prize worth over Rs 10 million. The Bahamas tournament has prize money worth a whopping Rs 630 million.

Meanwhile, PokerStars has declared Hindi film actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui as its brand ambassador and granted its marketing mandate to Ogilvy, which has already shot three TVCS with him.
