Honda Racing India completes 7th phase of nationwide talent hunt

CHENNAI: Honda 2Wheelers India along with its racing partners in India, IDEMITSU conducted the Coimbatore leg of its ambitious national talent on Sunday, which saw the participation of a 13-year-old amongst 19 youth prospects.

It is being termed as a success due to Honda’s aim of identifying and nurturing racers who are aged 13 at the minimum, for a professional career in the future.

The talent hunt began in mid-2018 and has already been conducted as well in cities such as Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Aizawl, Delhi and Pune. The other three cities remaining as per Honda’s plan are Bhubaneswar, Bhopal and Vadodara.

Potential candidates have to go through three levels of tests such as physical fitness, race orientation and riding skills.

Once the talent hunt is completed across these cities, two shortlisted racers from each of them, will get an opportunity to train at the Honda Ten10 Racing Academy in Chennai. Followed by which, a race will be held at the iconic MMRT race course in the city on 4 March this year, for selecting participants for the Honda Talent Cup CBR 150R category.

“The IDEMITSU Honda India Talent Hunt is a part of our new motorsports direction and commitment to build a structure to develop young talent in the country.

“Many of our riders from 2018 have shown tremendous performance at the IDEMITSU Honda Talent Cup 2018 season,” Honda Motorcycles India VP of Brand and Communications Prabhu Nagaraj said.

Besides Nagaraj, the other members of the jury include his deputy Koji Takahashi and Ten10 Racing head Ramji Govindrajan.
