WOMEN’S HOCKEY World Cup qualifier tournament will take place at Gachibowli Stadium in Hyderabad from 8 to 14 March.
The announcement was made by Vakiti Srihari, Sports Minister of Telangana, during a press conference held at Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium on 4 March. K. Shivasena Reddy, chairman of the Sports Authority of Telangana, and managing director Soni Bala Mayadevi were also present.
The tournament is being organised by the Fédération Internationale de Hockey (FIH) and will feature teams from India, Austria, England, Italy, South Korea, Scotland, Uruguay and Wales.
All preparations for the event have been completed. The venue has been upgraded with an international-standard astroturf playing surface, while comprehensive security arrangements and accommodation facilities have been put in place for the participating teams.
All squads have already arrived in Hyderabad and have begun training sessions at the astroturf facility. In addition to the competition, organisers have planned heritage tours and recreational activities for international delegates and players during their stay in the city.
