MUMBAI: Indian Bodybuilding & Fitness Federation (IBBFF) announced the launch of the International Bodybuilding Championship and Fitness Festival 2022 at a press conference here Monday.
Organized under the aegis of International Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness (IFBB) and Asian Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness (AFBF), the 3-day event will be held in Pune from 15th April to 17th April and will see more than 1,500 participants from over 100 countries in what is its third consecutive year.
One of the key highlights of the event this year will be “Mr and Ms. Universe Fitness Champion”, a contest which will give bodybuilding enthusiasts an opportunity to break sweat and show off their prowess. The tournament is open for all IBBFF athletes. The organizers have ensured that there is no competitive process to participate and that every athlete will receive a certificate of participation on completion of the feat. A fitness exhibition will also run simultaneously at the event venue for those who wish to hone their skills.
Excited about the launch of the event, Sanjay Joshi, president, IBBFF, said: “We are extremely delighted to organize this sporting bonanza for our young fitness enthusiasts. We have seen tremendous growth in the number of athletes participating year on year and we are confident that the response this year too will be overwhelming. We appeal to all our bodybuilders and star athletes from the fitness arena to take advantage of this opportunity and come forward in large numbers to showcase their talent. Philanthropists are also welcome to be a part of this sporting spectacle.”
Dr Sanjay More, general secretary of IBFF and Asian Federation of Bodybuilding & Fitness (AFBF), further reiterated: “We are proud to host the 3rd International Bodybuilding Championship. India is a powerhouse of budding talent and sporting events like these give rise to new talent. We have seen glory in the past and we look forward to soar high above that glory by creating a strong pool of bodybuilding professionals to compete internationally.”
IBBFF has a proven track record of successfully organizing international bodybuilding championships. Some of the popular tournaments it has delievered include “Mr.Asia 2009” held in Aurangabad, “65th Mr.World Champion 2011” organized in Mumbai and “IFBB Diamond Cup 2018-19”, held in Mumbai and Aurangabad respectively.
