IGPL 2nd invitational tees off at Jaypee Greens

THE INDIAN GOLF PREMIER LEAGUE (IGPL) has teed off its second invitational at Jaypee Greens, drawing a strong field led by three-time Asian Tour champion Shiv Kapur, rising prospect Karandeep Kochhar and recent winner Gaganjeet Bhullar, who is chasing back-to-back victories to further boost the league’s profile. Competitors will vie for a top prize of Rs 22.5 lakh from the overall Rs 1.5 crore pool.

This edition features 54 players — 36 men, 12 women professionals and 6 amateurs. Among them is Simi Mehra, a seasoned former LPGA player. Kapur, who won gold at the 2002 Asian Games, praised the IGPL for fostering new talent, spotlighting emerging golfers such as Veer Ganapathy and Kartik Singh.

Fresh off impressive performances in Chandigarh, several rising stars return to the fairways, joined by leading women professionals Amandeep Drall and Sneha Singh. Other notable contenders include Jasmine Shekar and Heena Kang.

IGPL Tour CEO Uttam Singh Mundy said, “Seeing these stars interact with youngsters while the likes of Gaganjeet Bhullar put on a masterclass like he did last week, is amazing. That’s the goal of the IGPL and we have had a tremendous response to the first event in Chandigarh last week and it will grow as we move to other parts of India.”
