India awarded hosting rights of 2026 Asian Rifle/Pistol Cup

India will host the 2026 Asian Rifle/Pistol Cup, the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) announced on Wednesday, continuing its efforts to bring big-ticket events to the country.

The Asian Shooting Confederation, in a statement issued Tuesday, declared: “The executive committee of Asian Shooting Confederation has decided to grant the hosting rights of Asian Rifle/Pistol Cup 2026 to National Rifle Association of India. This competition is set to take place in New Delhi, India during the year 2026.

“ASC extends its congratulations to National Rifle Association of India and wish them the very best in preparations and successful organization of this competition.”

India has hosted a total of six top International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) competitions, including two World Cup Finals, the most recent ISSF World Cup Final Rifle/Pistol/Shotgun, which was held last month in New Delhi. India had previously hosted the 8th Asian Air Gun competition in the year 2015 followed by the Asian Olympic Qualifiers a year later In the same period.

“We kindly ask you to inform us on the proposed dates for organizing Asian Rifle/Pistol Cup in the year 2026, considering other ASC/ISSF events and ASC Constitution & General Regulations,” ASC wrote in a letter to K Sultan Singh, secretary General, NRAI.

Reacting to the development, Sultan Singh commented, “We are delighted to have been allotted yet another top international shooting competition. We are extremely grateful to the executive committee of the ASC and assure them of putting our best foot forward as always,” .

NRAI president Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo highlighted the importance of this development, emphasizing how it further solidifies India’s standing in the international shooting arena.
