India T20 tour to SA could happen in March 2021: report

MUMBAI: India’s tour to South Africa, a series involving three Twenty20 Internationals, which is currently in limbo as a fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic, could reportedly be hosted in March next year.

The series was a late addition to the calendar, following talks between Cricket South Africa and the Board of Control for Cricket in India, and was originally scheduled to take place in August.

For CSA, the series would have added in the region of R150 million (Rs 654 million) to its coffers, according to Independent Online.

As per the South African media platform, CSA has stated that negotiations with the BCCI have been good. Crucially, broadcasters are also amenable to the series taking place in March 2021.

It is worth noting that broadcast rights to international cricket in South Africa for the Indian Subcontinent have shifted  from Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) to Star Sports, effective this year.
