INDIA WILL HOST the inaugural World Yogasana Championship from June 4 to 8 at TransStadia in Ahmedabad, with participation from over 40 countries. Organised under the aegis of World Yogasana and hosted by Yogasana Bharat, the event will bring together leading athletes from across the globe.
Selection trials for the Indian national team were held on May 1 and 2 at the SAI Centre in Sonepat, Haryana. Athletes competed across traditional, artistic, rhythmic, and athletic yogasana categories. Those selected will attend a national coaching camp at the Naranpura Sports Complex (SAI NCOE) in Ahmedabad from May 10 to June 2.
Governed by World Yogasana, the sport combines yoga with athletic competition, with performances judged on precision, balance, flexibility, control, stability, and degree of difficulty under standardised rules.
