MUMBAI: The Indian Premier League (IPL) Season 12 is all set to have its auction on 18 December this year in Jaipur. However, in addition to that, the BCCI and IPL’s official broadcasters, Star Sports have opted to broadcast it from 3 pm to 9.30 pm, which includes the Indian primetime TV slot, Mumbai Mirror reports.
The primary reason given is that 18 December also happens to be the final day of the India-Australia Test match in Perth, which can have a crucial impact on the series and can easily entice more viewers. The game will be telecasted by Sony Pictures Networks India.
All the IPL franchises have been communicated about the decision. However, there is no clarity yet on the dates and venue of the 2019 tournament.
