Kerala Blasters CEO Viren D’Silva resigns

MUMBAI: Viren D’Silva, chief executive of Hero Indian Super league franchise Kerala Blasters, has taken reportedly the exit route after “many summers” with the club.

D’Silva submitted his resignation last week and the club has accepted it, Khel Now reports, quoting a source close to the developments.

D’Silva initially worked with the Blasters during the first two seasons of the ISL, in 2014 and 2015 and was also instrumental in putting the team together for the 2016 season. He then returned to the club in March 2019, replacing Varun Tripuraneni who held the position of CEO since February 2017.

D’Silva’s exit slipped under the radar as it were since it coincided with the departure of team talisman Sandesh Jhingan after six seasons with the club. The 26-year-old centre-back from Chandigarh, whose potential was first identified by Kerala Blasters, joined the team at the start of the ISL in 2014 and went on to make 76 appearances for the club. Sandesh, nurtured by the Blasters over the last six seasons, is all set to pursue a fresh challenge.
