THE KHELO INDIA ASMITA Football League 2025-26 was inaugurated by Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Raksha Nikhil Khadse, at the Godavari Engineering College Ground in Jalgaon, Maharashtra. The league aims to boost women’s participation in sports.
The day-long event began with an opening ceremony, bringing together aspiring footballers aged 13 and under.
A core component of the Khelo Bharat Niti, the Khelo India ASMITA League promotes sport as a means of nation-building and women’s empowerment. It provides a dedicated platform for young girls. Its focus on grassroots talent aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of making India a global sporting powerhouse, with women playing a central role and finding their identity through sport.
The inauguration was attended by dignitaries including Ketakitai Patil and Farukh Shaikh, secretary of the Jalgaon District Football Association. Distinguished members of the college administration were also present. The event was organised under the guidance of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, with support from the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the Western India Football Association (WIFA).
