MANCHESTER: English county team Lancashire announced on Wednesday an extension of their sponsorship deal with the world’s largest international airline, Emirates.
Till 2023, Emirates will continue to be the shirt sponsor of the county’s T20 team that participates in the annual Natwest T20 Blast.
Emirates had also signed a multi-year stadium naming rights contract with the club in 2013, which was the biggest sponsorship deal in domestic cricket in the UK.
Daniel Gidney, chief executive at Lancashire Cricket Club, said: “We are thrilled to announce that Emirates has extended its sponsorship as the Club’s Vitality Blast shirt sponsor. This positions the Emirates sponsorship at Lancashire as one of the longest and most recognisable in the game.
“We’re hugely proud of our long term relationship, which commenced in 2013, and this announcement, with a world-leading brand who believe in the same way of working as us, will see customer and fan focused activations, as well as being another positive step as part of the Club’s continued commercial growth and development.”
Emirates is renowned to have long-term partnerships in other sports as well with teams such as Real Madrid, AC Milan, Arsenal, Paris Saint Germain and events such as the FA Cup, Rugby World Cup 2019, Formula 1, Australian Rules Football and other horse racing, tennis and golf competitions.
Richard Jewsbury, Emirates’ divisional vice president, United Kingdom, added: “We are delighted to extend our partnership with Lancashire Cricket Club to 2023. Emirates is a long-time supporter of cricket, with a well-established presence and longstanding commitment to the sport both internationally and domestically. Cricket is a sport that unifies fans around the world, and Emirates helps connect those fans with their passions. We look forward to another successful five years with the Club.”
This deal is a huge boost for Lancashire, after it recently announced a 92% increase in operating profits for the 2017-18 season.
