Men’s Hockey WC opening ceremony tickets sold out

BHUBANESWAR: Frenzied promotional activity and the presence of celebrities have resulted in the tickets for the opening ceremony of the men’s hockey World Cup being sold out within hours of ticket sales going online on Tuesday.

The opening ceremony will be held at the Kalinga Stadium in the city on 27 November followed by the World Cup Celebrations program the next day at the Barabati Stadium in Cuttack.

The online redemption of the tickets for the opening ceremony will be from Thursday at the Kalinga Athletics Stadium while the redemption centres in Cuttack for the World Cup Celebrations event will be announced later.

According to a SportStar Live report, music maestro A.R. Rahman will be performing at both the events on the official anthem of the tournament curated by him called ‘Jai India’ as well as some of his patriotic songs such as ‘Jai Ho’ and ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’.

Hindi film actor Shahrukh Khan, who is also one of the ambassadors of the tournament, will launch the campaign ‘Heart Beats For Hockey’, that will present the collected heartbeats of India to the 16 team captains.

In a latest development, actress Madhuri Dixit is set to perform a dance ballad with 1,100 artists from across the globe on ‘The Earth Song’ which is written and directed by Nupur Mahajan and will last 40 minutes. It will emphasise the importance of a united world.

The opening ceremony is expected to be a 90-minute entertainment fest.
