THE NATIONAL BASKETBALL Association has elevated Sunny Malik to country head for India, effective immediately, to lead the NBA’s strategy, partnerships, and operations in the region.
Previously the business head for Global Partnerships and Media in South Asia, Malik has been with the NBA for over six years, driving commercial growth in one of their fastest-growing international markets.
In his earlier executive position, Malik managed commercial initiatives and strategic alliances. He has been heavily involved in expanding the NBA’s footprint in India through partnerships with platforms like NEWJ, YouTube, and Reliance Retail.
Malik’s promotion underlines the NBA’s sharp focus on accelerating growth in India, leveraging digital platforms and local partnerships to build on the league’s growing popularity.
Before joining the NBA, Malik was with Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited for over four years, his last portfolio being SVP & National Sales head- Affiliate Sales and Media Distribution.
Prior to ZEE, Malik has had stints at HSBC, Barclays Bank and Indiabulls.
