The blockbuster India-Pakistan match in next year’s T20 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the West Indies and the USA, is likely to take place in New York on June 8 or 9, according to multiple media reports.
Twenty national teams will be competing in the biggest ever T20 World Cup.
Per UK’s Guardian, New York will host the match after the latest census data revealed that around 7,11,000 people of Indian origin and about 1,00,000 people of Pakistani origin live in the city.
While there is a ten-and-a-half-hour time difference between New Delhi and New York, the matches would more than likely be played at a time that allows maximum Indian audiences to watch the broadcast of the match.
Three venues in the USA have been shortlisted for hosting T20 World Cup 2024 matches which is set to take place in June. These are the Central Broward Park in Florida, Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas and the Eisenhower Park on Long Island, about 25 miles from Manhattan, near the southern tip of New York.
India and Pakistan’s most-recent faceoff came at the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad where the Men in Blue registered a thumping victory.
