BENGALURU: The southern city of Bengaluru is all set to have its first ever ‘Bengaluru Sports Fest’ on 8-9 December 2018 that aims to inculcate sports as a culture to be followed by every Indian family in the city and state, Press Trust of India reports. The festival would be conducted under the aegis of Sports Excellence Trust at the Padukone-Dravid Centre for Sports Excellence.
Rahul Dravid, Prakash Padukone, marathoner Vidya Laxman and athlete Reeth Abraham would be amongst the 100 sports personalities and city celebrities who are expected to join the festival, according to the President of Sports Excellence Trust and one of India’s top badminton coaches, Vimal Kumar.
“We are delighted to organise the first-ever Bengaluru Sports Fest 2018, which has been envisioned to inculcate sports as a culture for every Indian family,” Kumar said. He confirmed that the fest will be open for all age groups and will witness participation of over 20,000 sports enthusiasts across nearly 100 sports.
It will also be organizing a Corporate Sports Challenge in which as many as 3,200 participants from over 32 Indian corporates will be present in sports and athletics events such as football, ultimate frisbee, cricket, basketball, tennis, table tennis, squash, badminton, swimming and 100m sprint.
