Pinkathon Mumbai sees record participation by visually impaired women

THE 10TH EDITION of the Zydus Pinkathon Mumbai was held on 20 and 21 December at the MMRDA Grounds, BKC, bringing together more than 5,300 women participants over two days. The event featured 3 km, 5 km and 10 km race categories.

A standout moment of the Mumbai edition was the creation of a world record for the largest group of visually impaired women running together. A total of 115 visually impaired runners participated across categories. Corporate participation was led by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, which recorded the highest number of registrations with 250 runners.

The event also witnessed several women volunteering for hair donation, with Pinkathon founder Milind Soman cutting their hair on stage. According to the media release, the donated hair will be used to make wigs for cancer patients, reinforcing Pinkathon’s long-standing commitment to breast cancer awareness and survivor support beyond the run itself.

The event was supported by a strong ecosystem of partners, including Zydus as the Title Partner, Aspect Global Ventures as the Race Sports Partner, Sports Authority of India and FIT India, Lotus Herbals (Sunscreen Partner), Zivame (Activewear Partner), Copa Cabana (Hair Care Partner), Grand Hyatt Mumbai (Hospitality Partner), Bisleri (Hydration Partner), 3TENX (Hair Wellness Partner), Fortis (Medical Partner), Maitryana (Philanthropy Partner), Healthy Master (Healthy Snacking Partner), Sirona (Hygiene Partner), Fujifilm (Breast Health Partner), Enrich (Grooming Partner), Lifelong (Fitness Partner), 92.7 Big FM (Radio Partner), Inc.5 (Gifting Partner), and Smiling Tiger Experiences (Event Partner).

Founded in 2012, Pinkathon continues to use running as a platform to improve visibility, access and participation for women in sport. Following the Mumbai run, the Zydus Pinkathon will head to Bengaluru on 25 January 2026, before moving on to Hyderabad on 15 February 2026.

Soman said, “What stands out every year is not just the numbers, but the diversity of women who show up. From visually impaired runners to first-timers and competitive athletes, Pinkathon continues to reflect how women’s running in India is evolving, becoming more inclusive, confident, and visible.”

Zydus Healthcare managing director Swati Dalal expressed, “The scale and diversity of participation at the Zydus Pinkathon Mumbai reflect how preventive health conversations can be meaningfully integrated into public spaces. We are pleased to support an event that brings together fitness, awareness, and inclusion in a way that resonates across age groups and abilities.”

Invincible Women founder Ankita Konwar added, “What we’re seeing here is consistency, women showing up year after year, across distances and ages. Events like this help normalise long-distance running for women and create space for both performance and participation to grow side by side.”
