RR skipper Riyan Parag invests in startup Proxgy; joins Rahane

RIYAN PARAG, captain of Rajasthan Royals, has invested ₹2 crore in deep-tech startup Proxgy, marking a notable crossover between professional sport and India’s fast-growing technology ecosystem.

The investment positions Parag among a growing list of cricketers backing innovation-led ventures, including Ajinkya Rahane, who is also associated with Proxgy.

Founded in 2020, Proxgy operates in the deep-tech and Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) space, developing smart devices and wearable technologies aimed at improving workplace safety, connectivity and productivity—particularly for blue-collar and industrial workers.

The company has positioned itself as a “Make in India” innovation-led enterprise and has received multiple recognitions, including the Graham Bell Award, CES Innovation Awards, and NASSCOM’s League of 10.

Commenting on the investment, Parag said the company’s blend of innovation and real-world application was a key factor in his decision. He highlighted Proxgy’s focus on safety and accessibility for workers operating in challenging environments, describing it as “innovation aligned with real, on-ground impact.”

The funding is expected to support Proxgy’s expansion in AI- and IoT-driven product development, as well as scaling its industrial technology solutions.

The development comes at a time when Parag is stepping into a leadership role at Rajasthan Royals, having been appointed captain for the 2026 Indian Premier League season, further elevating his profile both on and off the field.
