THE SPORTS AUTHORITY OF INDIA (SAI) has sanctioned over ₹1.45 crore in financial and logistical support for the Indian contingent participating in the BWF Thomas and Uber Cup Finals 2026 in Horsens, Denmark.
The prestigious team championships are scheduled to be held from April 24 to May 3, 2026, and the funding is aimed at ensuring optimal preparation and performance by Indian athletes on the global stage.
India has sent a 34-member contingent to Denmark, comprising 20 players, 5 coaches, 9 support staff. The teams feature a strong mix of experienced stars and emerging talent, including PV Sindhu, Lakshya Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, HS Prannoy, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy & Chirag Shetty (men’s doubles). Several athletes are also part of the Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS)—India’s elite athlete development programme.
The financial assistance, approved under TOPS, covers a comprehensive range of expenses including travel and accommodation, athlete welfare and daily expenses, and high-performance support ecosystem. The support reflects a holistic high-performance approach, ensuring athletes have both financial backing and professional support systems.
