Share of ads featuring sport celebs up 3% in IPL 2020: BARC

MUMBAI: The share of ads featuring a sports celebrity, as against a film celebrity, has gone up 3% in Indian Premier League 2020 – from 14% during IPL 2019 to 17% in the recently concluded 2020 edition.  

As per the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) India data, this IPL has witnessed a 3 per cent growth in the ads featuring sports celebrities versus Bollywood celebrities. 

Hindi film superstar Aamir Khan topped the list of top 10 celebrities, registering 89,000 ad seconds, followed by MS Dhoni with 73,000 seconds and Shah Rukh Khan with 59,000 seconds.

Other celebrities who made the top 10 list were Virat Kohli on fourth spot with 45,000 seconds, followed by Akshay Kumar with 34,000 seconds. Sourav Ganguly ranked sixth with 33,000 seconds, Ranveer-Deepika seventh with 27,000 seconds and Ayushmann Khurrana eighth with 26,000 seconds. Risbhab Pant and Aamir- Alia ranked ninth and tenth with 26,000 and 25,000 seconds of ad volumes respectively.
