GWALIOR: The stage is set for the top academies to compete for the title as the 2nd Hockey India Junior Women Academy National Championship 2022 is scheduled to begin in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh from Wednesday.
18 teams will compete in the tournament starting Wednesday, with the final to be played on April 16.
The tournament is a result of Hockey India’s vision to maximise athlete participation and develop the game in states, Union territories, institutional units and academies.
The teams have been divided into four pools with Pool A and Pool B comprising of five teams each, while Pool C and Pool D consists of four teams each. The defending champions SAI Academy are placed alongside Bhai Behlo Hockey Academy Bhagta, Ghumanhera Riser’s Academy, S.G.P.C. Hockey Academy, and Smart Hockey Academy, Raipur in Pool A. In Pool B, Madhya Pradesh Hockey Academy, Jai Bharat Hockey Academy, RoundGlass Punjab Hockey Club Academy, Malwa Hockey Academy Hanumangarh, and Thirumalvalavan Hockey Academy are placed. Odisha Naval Tata Hockey High Performance Centre, Salute Hockey Academy, Mumbai Schools Sports Association and HIM Academy are placed in Pool C, while Khalsa Hockey Academy (Amritsar), HAR Hockey Academy, Raja Karan Hockey Academy and Berar Hockey Academy (Vidarbha) Amravati are placed in Pool D.
