T Sports scores Bangla territory telecast rights for BCCI cricket

MUMBAI: Bangladesh territory media rights for international cricket hosted by the BCCI, as well as the remaining games for the ongoing 2020-21 season of the Premier League, have been secured by freshly minted sportscaster T Sports.

The media rights agreement was managed by Singapore-based digital rights marketplace Allrites, which sublicensed the rights from Star India.

Allrites CEO Riaz Mehta said: “We are delighted to have reached this agreement with the leading sports broadcaster T Sports, through our international partnership with Star. As part of a broader strategy around sports content, we are now in separate discussions for additional English Premier League content, live cricket and other sports content as we continue to expand to other markets around the world, and we see a growing demand for our ever-expanding customer base.

The agreement covers Indian national team cricket matches between 2021 and 2023 and the current season of the Premier League. The cricket rights cover 13 Test matches, 14 one-day international matches and 20 T20 matches, as well as the remaining games of the current season of the Premier League, news-block.com reports.

News-block reports that Allrites sub-licensed both sets of rights for the Bangladesh territory from Star India, which is the host broadcaster for the Indian subcontinent for both sets of media rights.

A sister company of the Bashundhara Group, T-Sports is the first sports channel in Bangladesh.

In February, they also acquired the rights to the Asian Football Confederation’s matches for the 2021-24 cycle in an agreement with the help of the Football Marketing Asia agency. The channel also currently broadcasts coverage of Bangladeshi Premier League football.
