ZURICH: The new official match ball for the 2019 UEFA Champions League final in Madrid has been unveiled by global sports retail giant, adidas.
In a departure from previous years, the colouring of the ball has been inverted, with white stars and an innovative red graphic print, which features the Estadio Metropolitano, venue for the final on 1 June. The ‘Madrid Finale 19’ official match ball highlights iconic stars who have played in the UEFA Champions League.
The white star panels contrast with a vibrant red graphic print which covers the rest of the ball. A three-level digital glitch graphic has been created in order to give the product a bold modern look. The ball boasts of the latest adidas performance technology to ensure the world’s best players can perform at their optimum level during the tournament.
An outer texture coating – consistent across all adidas UEFA Champions League official match balls – offers secure grip and complete control, while the thermally bonded star panels provide a seamless surface for an improved first touch.
The ‘Madrid Finale 19’ will be deployed for all remaining matches in the UEFA Champions League this season, starting from the round of 16 which gets under way in February. The ball will be available to purchase from adidas.com and retail stores across the globe in the coming weeks.
