DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has provisionally suspended Enock Ikope, director of Zimbabwe Cricket, with immediate effect on three counts of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code.
These are:
Article 2.4.6 – failure or refusal, without compelling justification, to cooperate with an investigation being carried out by the ACU in relation to possible corrupt conduct under the Code.
Article 2.4.7 – delaying an investigation being carried out by the ACU in relation to possible corrupt conduct under the Code.
Article 2.4.7 – obstruction of an investigation being carried out by the ACU in relation to possible corrupt conduct under the Code.
The ICC has given Ikope till June 25 to respond to the charge. The development comes nearly 50 days after world cricket’s governing body banned former Zimbabwean cricket administrator Rajan Nayer for 20 years after he was found guilty of approaching the national team’s skipper, Graeme Cremer, to fix matches.
The country’s cricketing health continues to be in turmoil as Zimbabwe’s cricketers are reportedly planning to boycott the tri-series this summer at home against Australia and Pakistan, if their dues aren’t cleared by the board.
