The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) Bengaluru, on Friday, scheduled the hearing of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) versus edtech giant Byju’s case for January 17.
The case was filed by the BCCI on September 8 claiming that Byju’s has defaulted on a payment of Rs 158 crore under their sponsorship contract of the Indian cricket team. The Indian cricket board approached the NCLT at Bengaluru to initiate corporate insolvency proceedings against the edtech company. The petition was filed under Section 9 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code 2016.
NCLT Bengaluru, recognising the gravity of the dispute, has classified it as a “high-profile” matter.
