The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has dissolved the Pakistan Hockey Federation and suspended all its officials.
The development comes days after the “disastrous” performance of the national team at the recently concluded Asian Champions Trophy in Chennai, which India won.
A notification of suspension has been issued on the instructions of the Prime Minister’s Office, per Pakistani media reports. According to the notification, scrutiny of clubs across the country should be conducted under the supervision of the sports board.
The notification states that the PHF election process under the supervision of the PSB should be completed in a transparent manner as soon as possible.
All activities, except the camp and team management of the Asian Games, have been suspended while the selection committee will continue to function.
