FIFA scores on Twitter via VIVO’s #FIFAStadiumDJ campaign

ZURICH: The FIFA World Cup in Russia has been much followed and talked about on social media platforms. However, it seems to have struck the perfect sponsorship deal with Chinese smartphone company, VIVO as its global fan engagement campaign named #FIFAStadiumDJ has been the seventh most retweeted tweet on Twitter during the marquee tournament.

The thought behind VIVO’s multi-platform activation is to gather the playlist of songs to create an electric atmosphere during the knockout matches of the competition, from music and football enthusiasts from all over the world.

The #FIFAStadiumDJ Twitter poll, proposing a shortlist of songs based of submissions from Twitter users, received 3,323,207 votes and 522,468 re-tweets, also making it the most retweeted FIFA tweet of all time.

The results of the #FIFAStadiumDJ voting on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Weibo and VK were announced on Monday and the selected songs are added to the FIFA Stadium Playlist on Spotify.

“We’re looking at proposing meaningful initiatives to fans around the World,” said Jean-François Pathy, FIFA Director Marketing Services.

“Football and music are part of our everyday life and, as such, offer a perfect combination to create an engaging narrative. It is definitely the kind of activation we want to repeat in the future. FIFA can rely on a strong digital and multi-platform offering to put fans at the heart of the game. This successful campaign with Twitter and FIFA World Cup Sponsor Vivo is only the beginning,” he added.

“Twitter is the place people come to talk about what’s happening in sports and entertainment – we’re thrilled that passionate fans have registered the third most votes in the history of polls on Twitter for the #FIFAStadiumDJ competition and engaged with this Tweet more than any other about the tournament,” said Jay Bavishi, Senior Partner Manager for FIFA at Twitter.

“We’re excited to see football fans and music fans embrace the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia all in one place on Twitter.”
