BHUBANESWAR: The International Hockey Federation Saturday officially honoured Naveen Patnaik with the prestigious FIH President’s Award in recognition for the Odisha Chief Minister’s contribution to the sticks game in particular and sports as a whole.
The award, which was presented to Patnaik by FIH president Dhruv Batra at the Kalinga Hockey Stadium here Saturday, had in fact been bestowed on the long serving chief minister during the FIH Congress held in New Delhi in 2018.
The Odisha state government’s initiatives at the forefront of promoting hockey both in India and globally is well documented.
