NBA India appoints marketing head

MUMBAI: The National Basketball Association has appointed Murtuza Madraswala, former AVP, marketing, Sports Cluster, Sony Pictures Networks India, as marketing head, NBA India.

Madraswala, who quit Sony in April, had a short stint in between heading the sports vertical of talent management firm ‘DoIT Talent Ventures, which launched in June. He officially joined the NBA India team, effective Monday.  

Madraswala joined Sony in 2012 and worked on the network’s sports portfolio during his time there. He has played a pivotal role in crafting marketing initiatives for the NBA (Sony is NBA’s broadcast partner in this region) and other cricket tournaments, as also the FIFA World Cup and Euro campaigns over the years.

He joined Sony from Amigo Sports where he was GM-marketing and worked on the FIFA business division. Prior to that, Madraswala spent four years at Ten Sports, which was then owned by the Zee Group. 

Overall, Madraswala has close to 20 years of experience in marketing and client servicing.
