NEW DELHI: The RuPay Pro Volleyball League Monday announced its roster of presenters for the inaugural edition of the league.
Beach Volleyball player Alexa Chitra Strange, alongside famous broadcast presenters like Patrick Kinghorn, Manish Batavia and Sunil Taneja form the team of presenters for the league.
The league, an initiative of Baseline Ventures and Volleyball Federation of India, is set to begin on 2nd February with Kochi Blue Spikers taking on U Mumba Volley in the first match.
Manish Batavia and Sunil Taneja have over 20 years of commentating experience between them, having covered reputed sporting events like the UEFA Champions League, Premier League, Rio Olympics 2016, ICC Cricket World-Cup and Indian Premier League among others.
Alexa Chitra Strange, who is of Indian origin, is a Professional Beach Volleyball player from Southern California. She currently plays in the Association of Volleyball Professionals League (AVP). She played college volleyball at University of Southern California (USC), winning two National Championships and being voted two consecutive years as an All-American, the highest honour in college volleyball.
Also on the roster is British presenter Patrick Kinghorn, who had also conducted the player auction in December 2018. Kinghorn has under his belt over a decade of experience where he has anchored ‘live’ coverage of events across a huge spectrum, from World Cups and Olympic Games in sport to dramatic global events such as the Beslan School hostage crisis of 2004 and the Michael Jackson trial in 2005.
Talking about the new presenters, PVL CEO Joy Bhattacharjya said: “We are proud to announce our team of presenters for the inaugural edition. It is a great mix of talented, experienced and exciting and presenters with some solid credentials in their field of work. The presence of a current player like Alexa, an ace beach volleyball player, will add an exciting new voice to the commentary panel.”
The inaugural edition of the league, which will feature international volleyball stars like David Lee and Paul Lotman, will see six franchises vying for the title from six different cities across the country.
