MUMBAI: German luxury car maker BMW on Thursday launched the all-new BMW X5 — the fourth generation of the model — in India.
The locally produced Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV), unveiled by cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar in the presence of BMW Group India president Hans-Christian Baertels, will have two diesel models and one petrol model.
Billed as the ‘Boss of the segment’, BMW India launched the all-new BMW X5 which offers supreme sporting prowess, fresh modern design, refined interiors, driving comfort and authoritative driving attributes.
“All SAV and SAC (Sports Activity Coupe) vehicles combined represent roughly 50% of our portfolio in India, and the X5 is the core model of this segment. It will be very important for us going forward,” Baertels told Hindu BusinessLine.
To be manufactured locally, the BMW X5 is available in three design schemes – Sport, xLine and M Sport – in metallic Mineral While, Phytonic Blue and Black Sapphire colours.
A key feature is the enlarged one-piece hexagonal grille paired with a sculptured bonnet and short overhands, giving its iconic front an imposing appearance.
Presently, the BMW X5 xDrive30d Sport is available at Rs 72,90,000 and BMW X5 xDrive30d xLine at Rs 82,40,000, both ex-showroom, while the petrol variant BMW X5 xDrive40i AM Sport at Rs 82,40,000 will be available later this year.
