TICKETS FOR THE LA28 Summer Olympic Games are officially on sale globally, marking a major milestone as fans around the world begin securing their ticket to history.
The unprecedented response to the LA and OKC Locals Presale reflects surging excitement for the Games. In its first week, LA28 significantly exceeded first week sales for any previous Olympic Games, with every one of those tickets going to LA and OKC locals, a media release said. Hundreds of thousands of Southern Californians secured affordable access before a single ticket was offered to the rest of the world. Millions of locals registered, with interest exceeding currently available inventory for many sports.
Now, LA28 is taking that energy global. The launch of Drop 1—the earliest on-sale period in the history of the Games—is giving fans everywhere the chance to secure their place in history.
“The success of the Locals Presale speaks for itself: Hundreds of thousands of $28 tickets—the lowest priced Olympic tickets in modern history—were sold to LA and OKC Locals,” said Reynold Hoover, Chief Executive Officer of LA28. “We’re thrilled by the level of interest and enthusiasm in tickets to the Games, and we’re ready to welcome millions of others to Los Angeles in 2028.”
Fans who were randomly selected through the LA28 Draw to receive time slots for Drop 1—which begins today and continues through April 19—can log in during their designated time slot to purchase tickets for any Olympic event, including the Opening Ceremony and Closing Ceremony, subject to availability.
The emphasis is on providing a variety of ticket options:
- Nearly 50% of all Olympic tickets are under $200. More than three-quarters of all Olympic tickets—which include finals—are under $400.
- More than 1 million tickets will be available for $28.
- Pricing varies by sport, competition stage, and ticket category.
- Only about 5% of tickets—prime seats to marquee events—cost more than $1,000.
- Registration is required only once—all registered fans not selected in the first draw and/or who have not met their ticket maximum are automatically entered into future draws.
- Additional ticket drops and registration opportunities will continue in the coming months, and registered participants will be eligible to purchase additional tickets to the Paralympic Games through the Paralympic Ticket Draw, beginning in 2027.
- If fans don’t see their desired sports or sessions in this drop, more tickets may be available in future drops if they haven’t reached their Olympic ticket maximum.
- More information about ticketing, including upcoming ticket opportunities, can be found on the LA28 Ticketing page.
LA28’s verified multi-platform ticket resale program will open in 2027 with multiple points of access for LA28 resale. LA28 cannot verify the validity of any tickets sold outside of its verified network, which launches in 2027.
Premium Olympic Hospitality packages are now available through LA28’s Official Hospitality Provider, On Location. In recognition of Visa’s long-standing partnership with the Olympic and Paralympic Games, Visa is the Official Way to Pay, the release added.
