CHENNAI: Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Chennai Super Kings has pledged to donate 450 oxygen concentrators to the Tamil Nadu government in support of the ongoing fight against tha COVID-19 pandemic.
CSK director R Srinivasan handed over the oxygen concentrators to the state’s freshly minted chief minister MK Stalin, with Rupa Gurunath, president of the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (and daughter of the state's cricket czar N Srinivasan), also present. The equipment would be utilized for treating the COVID patients in the government hospitals the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) runs as Covid care centers.
The three-time champions have collaborated with the Bhoomika Trust, an NGO involved in Covid relief operations, to obtain the oxygen concentrators. The first consignment of the oxygen concentrators arrived and the remaining is anticipated to reach next week. CSK CEO Mr KS Viswanathan wants to support the people of Chennai, the heartbeat of the Super Kings, in the best possible way.
“The people of Chennai and Tamil Nadu form the very heartbeat of the Super Kings and we want them to know that we are all together in this fight against the pandemic,” India Today quoted Viswanathan as having said.
