Pro basketball league 3BL launched

MUMBAI: 3BL, a nationwide 3x3 pro basketball league endorsed by world body FIBA, was launched here Wednesday.

The launch event had star India team players Satnam Singh, Amjyot Singh and Palpreet Singh Brar, all of who will compete in 3BL's inaugural season, in attendance.

The inaugural edition of 3BL will witness 12 teams playing across six cities - Mumbai, Delhi, Aizwal, Kolkata, Chennai, and Bengaluru.

Commenting on the development, 3BL chairman Yoshia Kato said: "Seeing the performance of Indian origin players in the sport, we decided to start the first ever FIBA 3x3 recognised basketball league in India. We plan to make a serious impact on the growth of this sport in the country."

This high speed basketball tournament is an intellectual property of YKBK Enterprise that has been granted the exclusive rights contract from FIBA, IANS reports.

The winners of the meet will get to represent India at the FIBA World Tour.

Echoing the words of Kato, league commissioner Rohit Bakshi said: "It is surely going to be a very appealing sport for the audience."
