NEW DELHI: The most powerful cricket body in the world has yet again been forced to eat humble pie after falling at the wrong end of the stick on the legal front. Needless to say, it is a seriously expensive pie. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly ready to cough up compensation of over Rs8 billion to IPL franchise Kochi Tuskers Kerala for terminating its contract in 2011, a massive mark-up on the Rs3 billion the team's promoters were initially willing to settle for.

MUMBAI: With the Indian cricket board looking at March 2023 as the tentative time frame for the inaugural edition of the Women’s Indian Premier League (WIPL), the BCCI is reportedly planning for five franchises contesting in a 20-game debut season.  Cricbuzz reports that a final decision regarding the same will be taken after the new board takes over early next week.

MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Sumday unveiled Team India's new jersey for both its men's and women's teams ahead of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2022.  The Men in Blue will also don the same jersey during the World Cup lead-up T20I home clashes against Australia and South Africa.

MUMBAI: Kolkata and Ahmedabad will host the knockout stages of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) and Vijay Hazare Trophy, respectively, while two Irani Cup ties will be conducted over the next months, the BCCI has confirmed. The BCCI is conducting a full-fledged domestic season for the first time since 2020.

Amitabh Choudhary, former BCCI acting secretary, a veteran administrator and a distinguished IPS officer, died of a heart attack in Ranchi on Tuesday morning. He was 62. Choudhary, an IIT Kharagpur alumni, is credited for transforming the cricketing landscape in Jharkhand and building the infrastructure to boost grassroots cricket in the state.

MUMBAI: Indian cricket's serial conflict-of-interest petitioner has taken aim yet again. This time at Nita Ambani, owner of Indian Premier League franchise Mumbai Indians.  BCCI ethics officer Vineet Saran has asked Ambani, also a Reliance Industries Ltd director, to respond to a conflict-of-interest complaint made by former Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) member Sanjeev Gupta.

MUMBAI: The BCCI Thursday announced the schedule for the upcoming Australia and South Africa tours to India.  India’s international home season 2022-23 will commence with a three-match T20I series against Australia in September and will be followed by a three-match T20I and ODI series against South Africa.
