NEW DELHI: The most powerful cricket body in the world has yet again been forced to eat humble pie after falling at the wrong end of the stick on the legal front. Needless to say, it is a seriously expensive pie. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly ready to cough up compensation of over Rs8 billion to IPL franchise Kochi Tuskers Kerala for terminating its contract in 2011, a massive mark-up on the Rs3 billion the team's promoters were initially willing to settle for.

MUMBAI: Media will not be allowed to cover the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) directly from the venues due to the worrying upsurge in COVID-19 cases across the country but if the situation improves the restriction will be lifted, the BCCI announced on Thursday. The IPL is in any case out of bounds for fans and will be held behind closed doors.

MUMBAI: The Board of Control for Cricket in India has extended, for one more season (at least?), the production contract for the Indian Premier League, the three-year rights for which were held by Star India, that had expired with the 2020 edition of the IPL.  The BCCI extended the Star deal by a year "for want of time", Cricbuzz reports.

MUMBAI: The International Cricket Council has provided assurances over the concerns raised by the Pakistan Cricket Board about the participation of its team and presence of Pakistani fans at the Twenty20 World Cup that India is scheduled to host in October, PCB chairman Ehsan Mani has confirmed.   Mani made the disclosure in an interview to Pakistan's Jang newspaper on Wednesday (March 17).

Reason: so that the Virat Kohli-led side 'remains in touch with the format'. MUMBAI: Close on the heels of the Board of Control for Cricket in India shutting its doors on fans in the ongoing T20I series between India and England, the BCCI has decided to suspend all age-group competitions like the upcoming Vinoo Mankad Trophy.  The decision would be reviewed after the end of IPL 2021, BCCI secretary Jay Shah informed in a letter to all affiliate associations, accessed by ANI.
