MUMBAI: Star India CEO Uday Shankar says cricket action will continue to be the focus of the company as it looks to exploit global media rights of the Indian Premier League for the next five years.
“You have seen on STAR Sports (that) our focus is strictly on the sport. We believe that the spotlight should be on the sport and we will continue to do that… I am not commenting on what anybody else does,” Shankar told Hindustan Times.
The IPL broadcast on Sony Pictures Network for the last decade was marked by glamour, lavish studios and high entertainment quotient. That appears set to change with Shankar's comments which imply that the broadcaster will focus on the cricketing action of the cash rich T20 league.
