The World Badminton Federation has awarded hosting rights for the next edition of the Thomas & Uber Cup Finals and World Junior Championships to Denmark and India respectively.

As already reported, Guwahati’s newly christened National Centre of Excellence will host the World Junior Championships 2025. As for the Thomas & Uber Cup Finals, they have been awarded to the Danish city of Horsens.

It is just the second time that Denmark will stage the BWF World Men’s and Women’s Team Championships following Aarhus in 2021.

MUMBAI: The domestic season of badminton will begin on August 27 with back-to-back senior tournaments in Bengaluru, the national federation announced Monday.  The first senior tournament (both men and women) will be held from August 27 to September 3 while the second event will be staged from September 4 to 11, according a circular of Badminton Association of India accessed by PTI.

MUMBAI: Legendary badminton player Nandu Natekar, the first Indian to win an international title in 1956, died in Pune on Wednesday. The 88-year-old, who won over 100 national and international titles in his career, was suffering from age-related ailments, PTI reports. He is survived by his son Gaurav and two daughters.

MUMBAI: A year's wait is finally coming to an end as Japan gets ready to host the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games behind closed doors due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  The upcoming Olympics are scheduled to be held in the Japanese capital from July 23 to August 8. A total of around 11,000 athletes from 206 countries are expected to participate in 33 sports in Tokyo Olympics 2021.

KUALA LUMPUR: BWF confirmed on Wednesday that Suzhou, China has been awarded the hosting rights of the TotalEnergies BWF Sudirman Cup Finals 2023. Suzhou was due to host the championships in 2021, but with BWF unable to stage any tournaments in China this year, the event was reallocated to Vantaa in Finland.
