NEW DELHI: The most powerful cricket body in the world has yet again been forced to eat humble pie after falling at the wrong end of the stick on the legal front. Needless to say, it is a seriously expensive pie. 

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly ready to cough up compensation of over Rs8 billion to IPL franchise Kochi Tuskers Kerala for terminating its contract in 2011, a massive mark-up on the Rs3 billion the team's promoters were initially willing to settle for.

MUMBAI: The Indian Premier League 2020's opening fixture  between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings on September 19 saw an unprecedented 200 million tuning in, Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Jay Shah has asserted. Shah cites ratings data provided by BARC to assert that total viewership on the Star Sports Network and Disney+ Hotstar streaming platform came up to 200 million.

SAN FRANCISCO: Mobile Premier League (MPL) confirmed Monday that it had raised $90 million in Series C funding, led by SIG and early stage tech investor RTP Global, along with MDI Ventures and Pegasus Tech Ventures.  Existing investors Sequoia India, Go-Ventures, and Base Partners also participated in this round. The investment brings MPL’s total funding to $130.5 million after previously raising $40.5 million.
