If last year's elections for the Wrestling Federation of India's executive council was all about proxy candidates whose main claim to fame was absolute loyalty to the WFI's former president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the upcoming Lok Sabha elections for the Kaiserganj seat in Uttar Pradesh follows an identical template.   

The Bharatiya Janata Party is fielding Karan Bhushan Singh, son of the sitting MP Brij Bhushan. It is worth noting that Karan was last year anointed by his father as his replacement for presidentship of the Uttar Pradesh Wrestling Association.

MUMBAI: In an award delivered by sole arbitrator, Justice K. Kannan (Retd.,) set up on the orders of the Madras High Court, on Baseline Ventures (India) Pvt Ltd’s claim against the termination of their agreement for the Pro Volleyball League by the Volleyball Federation of India in 2019, VFI have been ordered to pay Rs 40 million as compensation and Rs 500,000 in legal fees.

BENGALURU: Tamil Nadu has become the second south Indian state after Andhra Pradesh to ban online games played with money, by way of an ordinance promulgated by Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Friday.  A day after Tamil Nadu issued its order, the Karnataka government said it too was considering banning online gaming in the state.

DUBAI: The International Cricket Council Thursday confirmed the ICC World Test Championship points system will be amended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Board approved a recommendation from the ICC Cricket Committee, headed by Anil Kumble, to change the competition terms for the event to determine how series affected by the global pandemic are accounted for on the points table.
