LONDON: The Premier League has stepped up the ante by zeroing down on their legal representation in Saudi Arabia to solve the piracy case involving beOutQ, the television channel owned by the country’s monarchy.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Wednesday condemned broadcasts of games stolen from Qatari rights holder BeIN Sports by Saudi-backed pirate entity ‘beoutQ’.  Unlike a previous AFC statement Saturday about a "cease and desist" notice, Wednesday's statement specifically named Saudi Arabia and "the pirate entity named 'beoutQ' that continues to illegally broadcast the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019".

GENEVA: The World Trade Organization has said it would investigate Qatar's allegations of intellectual property breaches against Saudi Arabia, dismissing Riyadh's objection over what it said were national security concerns.  A Geneva trade official said on Tuesday the WTO had agreed "to establish a panel to rule on Saudi Arabia's alleged failure to provide adequate protection of intellectual property rights".

DOHA: Qatar's global sports and entertainment media group, beIN Corporation (beIN), Monday launched an international investment arbitration against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for damages totalling more than $1 billion, over not just “state-sponsored broadcast piracy” of sporting events but also for "having been unlawfully driven out of the Saudi market".

LONDON: The English Premier League is ratcheting up the pressure on Saudi-owned satellite television operator Arabsat in the case of Riyadh based pirate TV channel beoutQ, which has with impunity been illegally broadcasting football matches across the Middle East and North Africa. After moving the the European Commission, the Premier League has said it is taking steps to bring legal action in Saudi Arabia.

LONDON: Close on the heels of beIN SPORTS providing damning third party evidence of how Riyadh-based pirate TV channel beoutQ was acting in consort with state owned satellite provider Arabsat to steal and rebroadcast signals beamed by the Qatari sportscaster into the kingdom, the legal fight to protect intellectual property has intensified.

DOHA: After brazen denials from the Saudi authorities on charges of direct state support to Saudi-based beoutQ, Qatar owned beIN SPORTS, the principal target of the pirate TV channel, has secured "independent and definitive confirmation" of signal theft from Cisco Systems, NAGRA and Overon.

DUBAI: The World Cup is all but over so one could question the point of the exercise but FIFA has "engaged counsel to take legal action in Saudi Arabia" against BeOutQ for illegally broadcasting World Cup matches in the Middle East, as other sports federations have joined a chorus of calls for the pirate operator's closure.

DUBAI: Saudi-based pirate broadcaster BeOutQ has now added tennis to its ever growing list of sports, the official rights for which are held by Qatar-based beIN Sport, that it broadcasts with impunity in the region.

MUMBAI: Saudi rogue broadcaster BeOutQ, under the cosh from FIFA, UEFA and CAF (Africa's football governing body) for stealing the live feed from Qatar-based TV network beIN Sport, has now extended its thievery to include Formula 1.  No prizes for guessing that F1 rights for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region also rest with beIN Sport.
